Hiwassee River Guides is a professional fly fishing guide service located in east Tennessee. Our Fly Fishing Guides provide excellent guided fly fishing trips on all of the tail waters in east Tennessee. Guided Fly Fishing Trips on the Hiwassee River are performed in whitewater Drift Boats by experienced operators. Float trips are performed using both traditional  Drift Boats, Rafts, motorized river jets. Hiwassee River Guides are very experienced knowledgeable on all the waters that where we offer trips. As well as being Licensed in East Tennessee and Kentucky our  Fly Fishing Guides have years of experience on all the big tail waters, including the Clinch River, Hiwassee River, Holston River, Cumberland River, South Holston River, and many smaller freestone rivers such as the Collins River, Ocoee River, & Tellico River as well as many more..  Hiwassee River Guides is a licensed and Permitted by the United States Forest Service, Cherokee National Forest for commercial operations on the Hiwassee River in Reliance, Tennessee. We are one of four licensed operators for the Hiwassee.

Bass on the Fly

     Yes, just like our striper trips we do chase bass on the fly. These trips take place on a variety of local streams and lakes. Smallmouth and Spotted Bass are the main target species. Our preference for bass fishing is a topwater popper bite but as in all things fishing, you do what you have to do.

      Hiwassee River Guides is a Fly Fishing Guide Service based in Southeast Tennessee. We offer trips on all the major tail water rivers in East Tennessee, Southern Kentucky, and North Georgia. Being located on the Hiwassee River in the Southeastern part of the state gives us close proximity to all of these waters on a daily basis. Our trips are tailored to meet your needs weather you are a beginner fly fisher or a seasoned angler we can accommodate all experience levels. 

​     Trips are booked and operated on all rivers based of water release schedules. Because we operate on Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) tail waters we have to be flexible on an almost daily basis, as TVA can and will change water flows as needed. This is mainly due to two reasons, the first is water storage for flood control and the second is the demand for power supply from hydroelectric generation. Our guides are very experienced at reading water levels for all of our local waters and can adjust trip details as necessary based on changes in the flow schedules.

​     Depending on the water that we are fishing Hiwassee River Guides uses both traditional drift boats, outboard powered Jet boats, and rafts for our guided float trips. This decision is based on several factors which range from river selection, water release, and angler expectations and ability. Our guides have years of experience rowing drift boats in whitewater conditions as well as running river jets on smaller more remote waters as well.
